Bathroom Products Organizer
2nd Year, 5 Weeks
In my second-year studio, I was given the task of designing an organizer for the home to solve a unique problem. I was also given many project constraints such as my product must be made with sheet material giving me the opportunity to experiment with different materials. Looking at my set-up in residence, I identified an issue with my bathroom trolley as there was no specific way to organize my bathroom products in the trolley. Hence, I set out to design an organizational product to fit in my trolley but can also work in other bathroom settings.
Ideation
I started conceptualizing different ways to organize my toothbrushes, toothpaste, and raiser in the space available. My ideas consisted of attachable units, an "I-shaped" design, and a foldable unit.
Development
After exploring possible solutions, I decided to focus on my foldable concept as it can be used in both home and travel scenarios. From here, I experimented with different ways to laser cut the components so they are easy to manipulate. My final model was done with separate pieces of Styrene taped together to create hinges. However, I would use sheets laminated together (like a binder) for real-life manufacturing.
